Dear God, let it be true!

Please God, make this so!

WASHINGTON — Former Tennessee Sen. Fred Thompson is facing increased calls to get into the 2008 GOP nomination race.

Sources told FOX News that Thompson, 62, now one of the stars of the popular NBC prime time series "Law & Order," has not ruled out a presidential bid, and has authorized advisers and supporters to continue to gauge support.

Giuliani? A liberal
Romney? A liberal
Editing to add: McCain? A traitor to free speech, (McCain-Feingold), and a near liberal

Please God, save us with Fred Thompson.

Fred Thompson. BORING. How is this supposed to be good new for conservatives? What makes you think Romney's not as conservative (if not more) than Fred Freakin' Thompson?

Fred Thompson is going to have to convince a lot of people he's even worth looking at.

Oh, and Vikingspirit: Rudy's toast. You're not doing your credibility any favors by campaigning for him.

Fred Thompson has good conservative credentials, and he's also an excellent communicator. He's not an abortion loving, gun grabbing, socialistic medicine fan like Romney.

Fred Thompson is the man. Giuliani is a liberal, as is Romney.

NBS, I take it that's why Rudy is up in every poll imaginable right now?

The CPAC straw poll also shows that he has appeal amongst Conservatives.

Rudy toast? Please. Rudy's the only candidate we have besides McCain that can win.

As for Rudy being a liberal, there's no arguing that he's a moderate/liberal on social issues. But, he is promising to put Sam Alito-type judges on the bench. That's the only way an executive can really push his views on social issues into policy, and if he's going to put Alito-type judges on the bench...well, wouldn't Conservatives be happy with that?

When it comes to other issues, Rudy's a solid conservative. He's a solid fiscal conservative, and his record shows it. He's a small-government conservative, and his record shows that. He reformed welfare in a very conservative manner as NYC mayor. Do I even need to go over Rudy's solid conservative credentials on the war and defense issues?

Rudy is also the best LEADER we can put in the White House, period. I don't feel that there's any debating that point.

NBS, I'd also like to know why you believe Rudy is 'toast.'

Why is Rudy a bad choice?

Pro-abortion
Philanderer
Anti-gun

The guy has all the moral fortitude of Bill Clinton.

Please God,

Spare us idiot like Fred Thompson.

How can you possibly think this man would be a good president? Just another actor like Reagan and God knows he was the worst disaster to happen to this country until the advent of Bush the younger.

All the GOP candidates are all godless opportunists and they all suck. The only one with any decency is Huckabee and face it - he hasn't a chance of being elected.

Oh, and abortion should be legal, minorities & women deserve affirmative action (because white men can't be trusted to do right by them otherwise).

Oh, and Jesus was black, Ronald Reagan was the devil and the government is lying to you about 9/11.

Just thought you should know.
